AUTUMNAL AND WINTER COAT GUIDE
I am a coat girl, always have been..alwayyssss will be! My obsession with coats/jackets is REAL. I love my collection so much, and am always looking for new timeless additions. Trevor always like to joke that my love for coats is ‘hereditary’, because my mom is the same way with coats/jackets. Growing up I always admired all of the coats she had, wearing them to her job or going out for an evening. Now it is so fun that I can have my own collection, and we can share that love!
I view a nice jacket/coat as a the best accessory, useful and stylish at the same time. To me, a coat should be the perfect balance between a statement and a classic piece. To get the most use out of your collection, what you own should be a mixture of neutral colors; black, gray, whites, and tans. When you have a neutral variety, each coat can go with nearly any outfit you are wearing; whether it be to the supermarket or date night (plus it makes it easier to justify how many you have HAHA). But seriously, even though I have quite a few coats/jackets, I really don’t purchase anything without making sure I won’t get a ton of use out it it. Whether your are starting to purchase jackets or already have a collection started, I hope you find this useful!
Top left: This is very new to my collection (if you follow me on Insta you have seen it!), it is a Zara Shacket. I really didn’t think I would end up buying a shacket since it seems to be such a big trend right now. However, I just simply fell in love with this jacket for fall. It has all of the best colors in it and I have already gotten so much use out of it. This one is limited in stock but here are a few others that I fancy: Double Faced Overshirt, Wool Blend Overshirt. I also purchased a size medium, I wanted an oversized look so I can easily wear sweaters underneath.
Tip: If you want this exact style I have, keep checking back. I have noticed it will pop back in stock every few days in a variety of sizes.
Middle Top and right top: These puffer coats are very similar to one another. Both colors are so versatile, and will go with virtually any outfit. I purchased the black puffer last year from H&M. I get the most use out of this jacket, it’s definitely my go to in autumn and winter for day to day activities like the grocery store and coffee runs. It nice because it keeps you warm and looking stylish at the same time. The camel puffer is also from H&M and new this year. It is definitely on my fall wish list. I wear a size small in both of these, and both are under $50.
Middle Left: This Topshop coat is a DREAM. I just purchased it and I am ecstatic to start sporting it around. It is the perfect classic! Ideal to throw onto of athleisure and tennis shoes, or dress up with a work outfit and heels. The quality of it is also amazing. It is a little more expensive, but definitely worth every penny. You’ll have this coat in your collection for a long time. I ordered a US size 6 in this coat, for a nice oversized look, it is also currently 20% off at Topshop!
Middle Center: This is a black Zara basic, that is very price friendly. It is light weight, but also warm at the same time. I purchased a size small in this, but almost wish I would have sized up to a medium for a nice oversized look. It is also a piece that is under $50 and comes in a few other nice neutral colors.
Middle Right: This gray coat is from New Look. It is such nice quality at a wonderful price point. Before this coat, I didn’t own a gray one (may be my way of justifying it). If you are new to New Look, it is a European company, therefore it ships from Europe. However, it is worth the wait! I ordered a UK size 10, and love the size. It is priced under $100.
Bottom Left: This faux leather aviator is very new to my collection. I received it in the mail about a month ago and I have been DYING to wear it! It isn’t a jacket I would have thought I would have looked good on me originally, but after seeing it a few places online I couldn’t get it out of my head… so of course I had to purchase. I do not regret the decision at all. You can find versions of this jacket a couple different places, like Topshop, H&M, and Pretty little thing. I ordered mine from Pretty Little Thing, I ordered a size 2 because it is already oversized. PLT also has a lot of sales, so I would wait to purchase this item when it goes on sale!
Bottom Center: This cream colored coat is currently on my wishlist from H&M, I feel like it is a perfect transition piece. Something you can throw on top of sweatshirts to run to the store when it is not freezing outside. I love the neutral and soft color of it. I would order a size medium in this, for a nice rich and oversized look.
Bottom Right: I purchased this black teddy bear coat last year from H&M and I am so glad that they brought it back again! This coat is so cozy, goest with literally everything and is so warm for the winter months! I ordered a size small, because it is naturally oversized.
